Efficient payment processes at OTTO: How Pia takes OTTO Payments to the next level
While still at school, Pia became fascinated by the world of IT, especially its extraordinary power to innovate and change businesses. Today, as Head of IT at OTTO Payments, she uses cutting-edge technologies to create a payment-oriented process that focuses on the needs of customers. We've now found out which skills help her in particular and what they deal with on a daily basis.
Pia - your topic in 3 sentences!
"The task of my division is to accompany the technical set-up of OTTO Payments, to optimize it and to use synergies to make efficient decisions and optimize processes. We achieve this with a large number of product teams and on the basis of a lot of data. In doing so, we use state-of-the-art technologies and a cloud-first approach. Through a defined IT strategy and IT governance, we bring OTTO Payments to the next technical level and create added value for the entire OTTO Group through stable, reliable and compliance-compliant processes and workflows."
Why is your topic important for OTTO?
"As OTTO Payments, we bundle and manage all payment and credit activities for the OTTO marketplace as well as for individual Otto Group companies. Our goal is to offer a customer-oriented payment process and to ensure future-oriented and flexible competitiveness. Through our processes, we can offer different payment methods to different customers* and thus also improve the checkout experience in the future."
Where was your enthusiasm for IT first awakened?
"I took an additional subject in data processing when I was still at school . I've always been interested in what you can create and change with technology. For me, IT is tangible and has an incredible power to innovate and change organizations and companies. That drives me every day and is huge fun."
What do you like best about your current job?
"Due to constantly changing technologies, I am on a never-ending learning journey. I enjoy constantly learning about new topics and working with the team to figure out how they can be applied to OTTO Payments."
What are your three superpowers that are very useful to you in your current job?
"In my job, the following skills have proven particularly useful: Flexibility, i.e. the ability to put myself in different situations, optimism and pragmatism. For me, my ability to address new issues pragmatically and flexibly and to embrace change even in stressful situations forms the basis for collaboration. For me, engaging with others, understanding their issues and working together to find solutions are crucial factors for successful teamwork. Because only together can we move and change things, and thus create added value for the OTTO Group."
